What was your favorite part or software program of this class?

I really enjoyed the photoshop portion of this class. Because photoshop is a program that I was kind of intimidated by in the beginning I always reverted to Lightroom which I feel is a simpler program. The couple assignments we had in photoshop were super educational and now I feel more confident using the program.

What was your least favorite part or software program of this class?
I would say probably the last program which has been the video portion. I say this because I truly have no experience in this field and it's not something I'm terribly interested in doing. I have learned a lot going through the learning process so if something does happen to come up at some point where I need to have the know how, I do feel comfortable working my way around some of the programs.

What part or program of this class will you continue to use in your artwork?
The photoshop portion for sure. I am a photographer and studying photography so I know that this is something I need to get comfortable using.

What was your favorite piece of artwork you made in this class?
I would have to say either the piece where I put my cat in the back of the truck or my animation piece. The animation video was something I would have never considered making but I had a lot of fun doing it.

What was your favorite piece of artwork made by someone else in the class?
I really enjoyed the time lapse compilation of pictures from around campus and the piece with the watercolor, paintbrush and salt. I also REALLY enjoyed the origami animation.

If you could change a part of the project assignments or part of this class what would it be?
I wish that maybe we had multiple projects to do for each section but I do understand that with the time that is given it's difficult. Otherwise we would be completely consumed by the projects... so I understand.

The art gallery that I attended featured two artists who go by the names of Saltpeter metals and IZ Word. Saltpeter metals is the name the artist puts her work under but her real name is Narissa Segura. She is a young woman who is native to the Phoenix area and got a degree in fine arts and is an autodidact of herbalism, alchemy, urban agriculture and metallurgy.

IZ Word describes herself as a lover of the weird and friend of the felines. She is an old soul who has an interest in many areas including yoga and herbology. She is a musician who loves to play the piano and sing. These two woman are truly inspiring and have energy that I believe almost anyone would be drawn to.

Narissa Segura is a master of metals, at the gallery she showed numerous jewelry pieces and hanging plates that she constructed and designed herself. She pulls her inspiration from the earth and it’s natural patterns and history as it pertains to art. IZ Word showed her embroidery talents that were an array of designs from mandalas, the sun, moon and stars. Some of her art has a native feel to it that she describes as inspiration from her past lives. There were pieces that IZ Word displayed of women wearing headpieces made of feathers and cats. Both women seemed to be very inspired by the world we live in and they were pieces that didn't take much imagination because they were very clear in their message.

The art gallery took place at a studio called The Lab Pop-Up Gallery in Phoenix, Arizona.  The work showed by the women had an opening reception that took place on November 15th which I attended and supported. The Lab is a great place to meet other local artists, have great conversation, drink some wine and potentially make some great new friends or even make some connections with local businesses.

I truly enjoyed the show, I had a great time and got to converse with some amazing people. It is a wonderful experience to be able to meet an artist face to face and walk through the show with them and hear their inspirations and how the ideas unfolded into the physical pieces you see in front of you. The social atmosphere is both inspiring and moving in a way that makes you want to be a part of something bigger and better.

I thought this video was really cool because it's nice and simple but you just cant look away. The video isnt done on any crazy professional level all they do is pour paint on this girls face and then reverse it. I think they chose a perfect song to match up with the pace of the paint and the concept is interesting.

For my Art visit I decided to go and see Ashley Macias's show over at  Palabra in Phoenix. It's located off of central and Fillmore. The artist is a friend of my friends who hosted my gallery over at The Lab Phoenix. I was guided over there on Saturday November 8th for the Grand Avenue art festival. I was immediately drawn to the space which is usually a hair studio and all of the tools and props were pushed to the side in order to make the art a visual statement. The artist Ashley is a painter who draws and paints these elaborate pieces of either skeletons or bird like creatures that resemble the human anatomy but beautifully executed. I was blown away by her dedication to the detail. The whole gallery itself was simple and the lighting really did a great job in terms of illuminating each piece. Her art was moving and really made you get lost in the beauty. I was specifically drawn to the piece shown below which is a wonderful example of the rest of her work. Again, as stated before her art is an elegant way to make you think about the human body and how we are all connected to nature and time.

I really enjoy this simple animation because you can see the persons hand moving and you can see every step of the animation very clearly yet it adds to the effect of the video. I also like the song and how cute the couple is.
I think this video is so fun! It's interesting and funny, fast paced and creative. I love the idea of the whiteboard because things are a little easier to erase and start over and being able to create scenes with some simple lines.

Artists who Lie via Photoshop

Christophe Gilbert

Riccardo Bagnoli
These artists are both obvious photoshop professionals but more than their artwork just LOOKING incredible I love the concept behind each of their styles. Christophe uses body and color in place of actual objects where Riccardo uses symbolism and metaphors. He takes things that have a bigger meaning and puts them where they dont belong to create intention.

I felt like one of the fonts that best fits my personality is this font here called " a glitch in time" because I do get that feeling when I look at it. I feel like I should take a good look before it blows away, like a handwritten message in a bottle or a the handwriting you would find from your grandmother diary back in 1965. I think this fits me because I like to live in the moment and I like to collect antiques, things that have personality and stories, things that have seen parts of history. That is what this font looks like to me.

This is the second font I feel like fits my personality because it is simple. I think that I am a pretty simple person with loops here and there, i'm pretty legible and I can be inconsistent like some of the letters, They have a free feel to them and I would say that is very much my lifestyle.
