It's a beautiful day in the tailer park
Through the looking glass this picture is many different things it's a tree a bridge definitely the middle of nowhere with a lot of junky houses and windmills set aside and forgotten over the years. When I actually shot the whole series of these photos I must have been in a phase were JEEPERS CREEPERS houses looked cool to me or something. There was also a lot of simplicity in the concept of these old rundown houses, one nuclear fall out shelter and the "tin cans for cars that I shot photos of. The concept suddenly came to me when I looked at the windmills and the main background piece with the Tree and Bridge in the middle of nowhere. Bringing it all out into this beautiful landscape capture, the older homes, the older cars in their rundown nature in a simple environment where really that is acceptable and OK. I'm pretty sure that out in the country the Home Owners Association doesn't exist. So I brought it all out in a collage of my own wonderland.
The area where a majority of the photos were shot save 3 is called the Palouse in Eastern, Wa and it is the polar opposite of Seattle and Western, Wa it is home to the agricultural part of the state and is actually where I was born. Its rolling fields captivate the eye for hours so apparently do the run down houses. They have a huge number of windmill farms out there there I got to shoot and I wanted to add them into the landscaper so I did. I wanted to bring out something simple and something modern. I like to shoot old things to me rust and wear give such personality so I added the cars from other photos I had taken. The fallout shelter is the only Arizona original house in the photo. I wanted to bring some simple concepts to life in a space that they could actually apply to and yes trick the eye just a tiny bit. I guess "one mans trash is another woman's treasure."
