UNIT 2 - Raster Project

Creating the Lie
DUE: Wednesday 9/24

Artist Statement and image(s) should be on a page called “Photoshop” under your personal web page on the class website.


Task:
Create an image that would not normally exist in the world using digital images and Photoshop.    

Materials:
-Digital Camera
-Hard Drive
-Photoshop

You will create an image that would never be able to be captured by a camera.  Using multiple images to seamlessly collapse each image together to push the limits of reality.  Make this lie look believable. The project will be one completed 11” by 14” 300 DPI image or three 8” by 10” DPI Images (or what is best suited for your project).  Images must be original, no downloading from the Internet.  But you are more than welcome to scan physical objects, fabric, and sketches in.  


Process:

  1. Sketch out ideas

  2. Shoot or Scan your source images

  3. Try out multiple processes to get final image

  4. Ask advice

  5. Finalize JPG and PSD for Crit


Inquiry:

From where am I creating this lie, It is story based or did I dream it?

What is reality? How can I exaggerate reality?

Does my project have humor or a serious tone? And how could I push these tones? How can I make it appear seamless?

How does the art of lying and honesty appear from my daily life can live in my art? How can I make the image interesting?


Evaluation:

Standard Critique Grading Rubric. Total Score out of 40
