A lot of things run in the family, such a eye color, athletic ability, temper, well, on top of the many family genes that I obtain, I was fortunate enough to acquire artistic skills from both my mom and dad. This artist, I know very well, on a personal level.  He is an extremely colorful thinker, and needs to be as he is an artist and a businessman at the same time. This artist is a very opposite spectrums, type of guy.  He is able to break  a lot of stereotypes.

Craig first got seriously interested in art in college, though he did enjoy art in high school, he started to develop his skill his Freshman- Senior year at Arizona State University. He studied Finance, in the W.P. Carey School of Business, yet was short a business class due to all of the art classes he was taking on the side while also taking core classes needed for his degree.

Craig enjoyed and still enjoys to create art in anything he sees. One of my mom's favorite gifts was a painted lamp shade of snakes in some greenery and shrubs. He has shown creative tactics with his sitting pharaoh, which was created by a rock, and an acrylic painting which contains many various colorful parts.

Craig likes to work with just about anything.

In Craig's free time, he likes to hunt for golphers, eat ice-cream and have a play date with his grandson Jack.

What was your favorite part or software program of this class?
My favorite part of this class was being able to try every adobe program and learning the basics of each program, this allowed me to see what I liked to work with.

What was your least favorite part or software program of this class?

Having too little time to spend on each of the projects, as well, maybe pre made videos of topics and 'how to" videos would be helpful for the professor to make, and it would be helpful to be able to refer to instead of trying to find a youtube video to help with a project.

What part or program of this class will you continue to use in your artwork?

I really enjoyed photoshop and illustrator, I hope to draw more with illustrator.

What was your favorite piece of artwork you made in this class?

My photoshop picture of flowers, though I loved my picture video idea, if I had more time to work on it and make it better looking I probably would have chosen that project.

What was your favorite piece of artwork made by someone else in the class?

I loved Mr. Dickey's watercolor painting GIF video, and I liked Mr. Radcliffe's long GIF videos.

If you could change a part of the project assignments or part of this class what would it be?
I would have preferred to do more samples in class, and less work time in class, I hardly got anything done on work days.

Think the guitar playing is pretty cool using several people to create one piece. I would have chosen a different song to use but
Love the bright colors, and the lighting, she did a lot with that I think. She tried to do primary colors in her video I think to get your eyes to play with the color more. i don't like how I don't get any satisfaction of understanding from it.

Statements from Artists:

WHAT? Looked at this blog:  http://azzaalshamsi.wordpress.com
WHO? Azza Alshamsi
WHEN? This was written circa June 2010
WHY? I enjoyed this artist statement because he had a lovely visual to compensate for any lost words. I felt like I new the artist better by seeing what he would choose to put right next to or on his own artist statement. I love his compelling contrasts. There are so many different things out there.
HOW? This artist statement will help me in later writings to be bold, and have fun with it. Almost like writing poetry you want to keep your reader reading.

WHAT? Robyn Wohl's work: http://robynwohl.com/portfolio.html
WHO? Robyn Wohl
WHEN? Circa 2007
WHY? It is funny, I couldn't find a statement I did not like besides very long and elaborate ones, which seemed to be the easy "go-to" statement to tear down. Robyn Wohl makes a lot of opinionated ideas/thoughts of the world which readers may or may not respect. America has always been a working country, thus that is why we have come so far so quickly and have beaten other countries to a lot of creations, etc. I do not agree whole heartedly with Robyn Wohl.
HOW? This artist statement makes me want to be a positive spin on all outlooks, and try to use more of a cushioned subject for my viewers.

I absolutely love making things by hand, because after once made it seems hard to get the same exact result again. The feeling of making something by hand is also special and unique to each artist, the sense of accomplishment due to strategy like thinking ahead and mapping and patience, the ability to have work ethic. Art seems to be my passion and show through everything I do. I really enjoy hearing people say that something looks good or pleasing to the eye because it takes a lot to move people especially today.

Animation revolves around fooling the eye into thinking something looks real, or that you can tell the cartoon is walking even though it is not.  I think for this project I will be hand drawing  pictures and using illustrator to help with this project.

I was also thinking of making my own art and having the canvas be the main visual and snapping shots of the canvas as I go through the steps of making a painting.

James Turrell, most well known as an artist? Mr. Turrell seems to dabble in every element in life, he is a mathematician, a scientist, an explorer, a lover of life and more. He was born in 1943 in Las Angeles and migrated to Arizona in his older years. He plays with light and illusions as well as astrology timelines.

Roden Crater: From the outside and within…

Roden Crater is in neat the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This is an old volcanic cinder cone that is roughly 400,000 years old and has been in the process of being created as a beautiful monument for the past thirty years by Turrell himself. He has always had a fascination with light and making his art interactive to his audience. He believes that art should force a spiritual awakening, and should make you think within yourself of what you are viewing and looking at. One example of his art is timing a specific moon phase that comes ever 18.6 years and being able to view it from the cosmic monument he is creating which will allow all visitors to experience the celestial universe.

The oh so Nonchalant Font

9/6/2014

Fantasy Font:

I love flowers! I love the look of flowers, the smell, the whole garden effect, the aliveness that is within a beautiful flower. Typically everyone is uplifted by flowers and enjoy the scenery. If I could write in any type of font it would be a very floral and uplifting font. My favorite colors are greens and blues so I love that the base of these letters are a light serene blue!
Picture

Usable Font:

My preferred usable font would have to be "Georgia". I know that is very plain, and straight forward but it's not trying too hard to be something different, reserved, and has the ability to work as a causal font but also as a professional one as well.
Picture
Being in the professional world of research papers, e-mailing potential employers and handouts given by professors, I haven't had much time to see or experiment with fonts. This assignment opened my eyes more on the elaborate ways of using fonts to your advantage. I have seen the 2007 "Helvetica" film on the importance of fonts in our society, but until now I really am starting to see the underlying tones and messages that all fonts have. Beneath me is a slideshow that shows different representations of fonts and unique ways of saying the same thing: "Hello World", some are accompanied by pictures others by colors and shapes. Each picture though saying the same thing has a different feeling, some take an eclectic approach while others are streamlined. Each is slightly different and wonderful in their own way.
